A Brief History of Week St Mary Football Club

The club was formed in 1999 and Tom Hannaford, Week St Mary’s current Manager, joined the club in 2004 bringing with him a wealth of experience, strength and enthusiasm, leading the club to a Pickard cup triumph that season.

By 2005/6 the club grew in numbers resulting in the introduction of the reserve team, Sponsored by Cornish Tractors, playing in the Kingsley League. The first team, sponsored by Hannaford Buildings, joined the Duchy league gained consecutive promotions into Dutchy Division 1.

Week St Mary Football Club has gone from strength to strength, with the Ladies of Week, starting a team for friendly matches against other clubs, and the introduction of the first youth team in 2008 being under 15’s, sponsored by Hillcrest Bakery, joining the East Cornwall League.

2011 saw the introduction of two new teams, the under 11’s sponsored by Barriball and Co with the training suits being sponsored by John Grigg, and the U8/9’s started training last year and this year will actually enter the league with the kits being sponsored by R.D. Bolt and Sons. With the official opening of the new pitch taking place on the 26th August 2012 the club looks forward to a bright and sustainable future.
